BIDSA Affiliate receives award for "The Best PhD Thesis in Statistics" by the Italian Statistical Society
Daniele Durante, BIDSA Affiliate and Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Department of Decision Sciences at Bocconi University, has been recently awarded for the best PhD thesis in Statistics by the Italian Statistical Society. His thesis, entitled “Bayesian Nonparametric Modeling of Network Data”, focuses on the development of novel statistical methods and computational strategies for the analysis of complex and multi-dimensional network data coming from Social Sciences, Neurosciences and Business Intelligence. Daniele received his PhD in Statistical Sciences from the University of Padova in 2016. His thesis supervisors were Bruno Scarpa and David B. Dunson.
The focus of his research is on developing flexible statistical models to provide accurate inference for complex data sets and some of his research interests include network data, Bayesian nonparametrics, stochastic processes, hierarchical modeling and high-dimensional inference.
